Brainstorming Glowflowers
Themes: Letting go of the past, learning from the past, embracing the future.
Forgetting the Past: The drug takers of wonder shroom keep themselves in a perpetual dream, happy state where nothing matters and everything is good.
Embracing the Future: The Glowflower cult that has lived and eaten the wonder shroom, to the point they decorate themselves with it.
(Potential Idea)Aliens Crashed: Aliens crash landed, the mushrooms leaked from there.
The Wonder Thing
Wonder Shroom: The mushroom that keeps everyone happy, compliant, and most of all, connected.
[Inspired by Lazarus from Batman: Arkham City]
Wonder Drug: Everyone is hooked on it. It provides a happy, quiet, docile population. Why they take it? Probably to forget, but also the authority encourages usage and basically abusage to control the population. From the waste created and just dumped in the nearest area, it causes strange mushrooms to bloom, which lead to the Mushroom crazies.
The Wonder Drug is mushroom based. It links everyone into a hive mind, providing a hazy life for them to live.
Wonder Fuel: Wondrous fuel, possibly out of this world. Its main usage is as a power source, useful since outside trade is mostly absent. It could also serve as a life extender, possibly even an ingredient in the above Wonder Drug.
Factions
Mushroom crazies: They are zombies but also not. They still need to eat, drink, and sleep. They travel in packs. They are covered in a fungus created by the wonder drug's runoff.
Bayonet Lugging Soldiers: Designed to be a middle ground between simply angry citizens and actually armed police. They wear their old soldier uniforms, but unfortunately ammo resupplies stopped quite a while ago. They use their rifles as spears, stabbing and inflicting bleeding and cuts. Some even upgrade their bayonet rifles, turning them into pitchforks and/or electrifying them.
These soldiers are the police, ruling the area and protecting it from itself and the growing outside creatures created by their carelessness.
Glow Flower and a cult: A cult that worships glowing flowers. They probably only glow at night, and as such, only harvestable at night. Make another flower that only blooms in the day.
The cult has the glowing flowers in their pockets, though also line their hats with said glow flowers. They are nocturnal.
The Ascended: Eating so much wonder mushroom, they have transformed into a new form. These new forms leave but watch in the shadows, perhaps thought of as ghosts, of outer beings.
The Happys: These are the populace constantly taking the wonder drug, living in a dream world where nothing matters. All they do is eat, though they can work, maintain a semblance of society. They have shit memory but that doesn't really matter to them, they don't want to think about the past nor worry about the future.
They live in the well-built, restored areas of the land, basically urban environments with more paintings and rainbows.
