Fear itself is a giant being composed of a civilization, its people, its buildings, and most importantly, the tyrant. The Tyrant did not want to lose his magical power and society to a rising technology, so using a profane ritual, he combined it all into a monstrous being.
At his fall, when the souls he has ensnared have their hold loosened, they fly out to freedom, leaving the Tyrant alone. As their souls fled, the creature crumbled, leaving nothing left but the Tyrant alone in the rubble of his civlilization, unrecognizable for the glory it once had. .
