The Sky Remnants

"What fell from the sky did not die—it waits."

A scattered belt of ruined orbital technology, crashed satellites, fallen stations, and fragmented spacecraft—each filled with relics of the pre-Fall era. This region is a strange blend of techno-ruins, anti-grav anomalies, and gravity-warped wilderness. The laws of physics are unreliable here.

General Orientation

  • Region Size: ~150 miles across (scattered fragments and craters)
  • Map Scale: 1 hex = 5 miles
  • Terrain Style: Craterlands, metallic forests, sky-breach peaks, and magnetized plains

Terrain Zones

1. The Orbitfall Craterbelt

  • Massive impact zone where multiple satellites and modules hit during re-entry
  • Scorched terrain, blackened glass, irradiated micro-meteors
  • Low gravity “pockets” where leaps can span 60+ feet
  • Twisting magnetic storms sometimes lift debris into the air like floating mines

2. The Arclight Expanse

  • Plains filled with satellite fragments still arcing with electricity
  • Home to flickering holograms and broken security drones
  • Plants here glow softly in the dark, feeding on residual radiation
  • Navigating without grounding gear is dangerous—lightning strikes at metal

3. Skyreach Spines

  • Jagged mountain range piercing the clouds, riddled with antenna towers and satellite dishes
  • Thin atmosphere at the peaks—breathing masks needed
  • Rumored to host a hidden observatory still receiving alien transmissions

Points of Interest

O.S.S. Horizon Veil

  • The largest orbital fragment—half a station embedded into a cliffside
  • Still has partial power, spinning corridors, and a functioning AI named "MIRA"
  • Contains sealed cryopods, planetary logs, and a quantum map of R.E.N.E.W.O.L. before the Fall
  • AI is damaged—asks for “memory reassembly” via data shards scattered across the region

The Reversal Spire

  • A strange tower where gravity flows upward
  • Originally a space elevator hub—now warped by dark energy experiments
  • Floating platforms and inverted ruins hover around it
  • Holds a Zero-Point Energy core sealed in a gravity loop

The Scintillanet

  • A ruined satellite cluster caught in the branches of giant metallic trees
  • Site of a failed orbital weapons network
  • Home to creatures made of flesh and circuit—"Technobeasts" that stalk with data-sense
  • Rumored to house a beacon still broadcasting coordinates to something… above

Factions & Inhabitants

The Echoborn

  • Nomads born of the Sky Remnants—descendants of surviving orbital crew
  • Skin patterns like circuitry; attuned to magnetic fields
  • Wield salvaged tech as magic: gravity rods, plasma coils, signal disruptors
  • Often neutral, but value secrets and starfall fragments

The Satellite Cult

  • Worshippers of the “Fallen Lights”
  • Believe the orbital collapse was divine retribution
  • Seek to reassemble a working satellite to launch prayers into the stars
  • Fanatical, tech-savvy, and unpredictable

Signal Drones

  • Autonomous machines still executing lost protocols
  • Some clean, some kill, some try to "uplink" humanoids into data forms
  • Occasionally repair fallen structures or guard forgotten access points

Environmental Hazards

  • Gravity Fluxes: Pockets of reversed or unstable gravity—walking on walls is possible in places
  • Orbital Debris Showers: Random micro-meteor strikes occur during celestial alignments
  • Static Rain: Electric rainstorms that short out magical or tech items for 1d4 rounds
  • Signal Bleed: Party members may begin receiving foreign voices or visions from something else orbiting still
