Taoya

Taoya originated from an underwater species that later evolved to live on land. They are essentially blind in lighted areas, generally able to use their other senses with a much higher level of skill to compensate, but in dim and darkness can see as normal, though only in black and white. This is due to extreme light sensitivity, and because of this, many Taoya wear coverings on their eyes to reduce pain and injury from light. There are no distinct sexes in the species, any two members can reproduce. Their skin is similar to that of a frog, and can feature a wide variety of colours and patterns in the natural spectrum. They typically have finned ears, webbed fingers and toes, and eyes with nictitating membranes. There is a variant with a tail, and one without.
