Cataclysm

The Cataclysm is an event that marks the beginning of known history in Renereach. The exact events that occurred here are unknown, but whatever it was, it destroyed the entirety of civilized life that had existed prior to it.
Only a few groups of people must have survived, making up the ancestors of all current races. It is unknown how many survived, but they were likely few, and scattered across the continents, originating the variations in species that exist today.
It also destroyed most architecture and buildings, leaving many ruins across the world.
It is suspected to have happened or begun somewhere on or near Kape'aksal's Sathir Island, due to the devastated landscape there, though the truth of this is unclear.
The year marker for years prior to the Cataclysm is X, though of course, almost nothing is known about this time.
