Theosians

This land is untamed, from its people to its forests. It will require vision, wisdom and will to bring it into the fold. It must be worthy of the Empire of Theos. To do this, it will require someone who has the true Theosian spirit. I am that man. I have faith in our people. We will establish order in the Dorian baronies. We will forge them into a true beacon of the might of the Empire. The greatness of Theos can not denied. It is why, my emperor and friend, that I wish to speak to you of the vision I have for that collection of rabble, and how I will turn them into something worthy of the Theosian ideal.
- From the proposal of Julian Kadmos to the Emperor of Theos

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Most Theosians speak the modern form of Tyrian, the old Imperial language. Some have made an attempt to speak Dorian, but it is rare.

Culture and cultural heritage

The might and sophistication of the Theosian Empire is unparalleled in Reluria. Because of this most Theosians have a sense of superiority over just about any other group. This is even more obvious for people they have conquered. Many Theosian nobles that only interact with other Theosian nobles in the Duchy of Kadmos believe the Dorians to be ignorant and backward. They point to the fact that the Dorians speak Tyrian with such a strange accent as proof of their lack of mental ability to speak it properly. They find the Dorian’s superstitious beliefs quaint and charming at best, foolish and moronic at worst. Because of this, these nobles will often look down upon Dorians, even the old noble houses, as inferior and better off ruled by the wiser and stronger Theosians.   Of course any Theosian who has lived and worked among the Dorians for any length of time knows this is complete idiocy. That arrogance is not shared by all Theosians.

Coming of Age Rites

Many Theosian families in the Duchy have taken on the Rite of Shearing for their youth. See the Dorians page for more details.

Common Myths and Legends

The Theosians legend of the founding of their city is one that defines many aspects of their culture. After the cataclysm occurred and destroyed the old Tyrian empire, a prince and princess escaped the destruction with a few guards and retainers. Their odyssey to the south, defeating the Queen of Centaurs and building the city of Theos bridge the space between fiction and truth.

Historical figures

Prince Pallas is often considered the founder of Theos. Many Theosians consider him a real historical figure, some scholars debate his existence.   Emperor Neoptolemus I is known for his conquest of the Hobgoblin lands to the north east of Theos. He is considered the first Great Emperor of Theos.   Emperor Flavius III is the current emperor of Theos. He is a friend to Duke Julian Kadmos.
