Modi Naming Ceremony

The naming ceremony of a Modian child takes place between ten days and a month after the birth, when the baby's name is revealed to extended family and friends, and officially registered. It, like most celebrations on Bo Kae, is usually arranged by a Resource Acquirer.   Like with Modian weddings, there are very few legal requirements of a naming ceremony, but many traditions which are almost always upheld, either for the sake of tradition, or because of superstition.   In Modian culture, green symbolises innocence and youth, and therefore the baby is usually dressed in green. An outfit for a naming ceremony can be very elaborate, though great care is taken in the design to make sure it is also something the child can be comfortable in.   Gifts are presented at a naming ceremony. In addition to presents for the child, gifts are also given to the mother by her closest female family members or friends, considered to help her recover from the act of giving birth. This began as a belief that in the aftermath of a birth, the mother was susceptible to bad luck or evil spirits, and she would be presented with charms and talismans. As the belief has died out, these have been replaced with things to aid relaxation or sleep, such as luxury bathroom items or a special tea.
