Serkers

Serkers are orcish warriors that have mastered the art of raging. Though they are few in numbers, most accounts equivalate their power to that of 30 warriors.
Traditionally, an orc interested in pursuing this role must first gain approval from their clan's chief, their clan's spiritual leader, and request permission from the current Head Chief. This in and of itself is a difficult task.
First, a chief will assess their prowess and achievements, deeming them worthy and necessary to create. Only the most impressive of individuals will be deemed worthy of this power and generally only in times of conflict will one be deemed necessary to create; if a Serker is already present in a clan, it is almost unheard of to create another.   If the chief approves, then the spiritual leader will assess if their mind is ready for such a taxing process. Few minds and souls are deemed strong enough to withstand the process and worthy of the power a Serker wields.   If the spiritual leader approves, the Head Chief will then decide from the assessments their clan leader and spiritual leader if the orc is truly ready and necessary to create. If an orc gains approval from the Head Chief, the ritual of transformation will begin.
First, an orc will spend days at a time in deep meditation to commune with Arknurr, the god of combat. If in meditation a clear sign of Arknurr's approval comes to them, an orc will leave for the wilds on the night of a full moon.
Forbidden from taking any supplies with them (armor, weapons, tools, food, etc) they must survive in unbridled wilderness until a full moon appears again. Out in the wilds an orc will channel their inner power, reverting to a primal sense being to survive. Pure emotion and instinct will become their main drive. They partake in frequent meditation and introspection to continue to commune with Arknurr. After the full moon has returned, the orc will return to their clan. Their chief and spiritual leader will cristen them the role of Serker.

Structure

A Serker will usually be the only one of that rank in a clan's array of warriors. While extremely powerful, they do not hold a higher rank than a commander.

History

The ritual of the Serker is an ancient tradition of orcish culture, dating back to the earliest records of orcish history.

Demography and Population

There are very, very few Serkers in existence at a time. Usually only a single Serker per clan, if the clan has one at all. Most Serkers are orcs, though there are very rare accounts of orchen Serkers.
