High Virison

The mix of languages involved in the name of the village is odd, but a usual mix for a place in Caines Farre. High Virison is found high in the mountains of a country that is already noted for being nestled in mountains. It's one of the more closely guarded secrets of the Corinath Family.

The nearby castle is very difficult to find, and was established early on as a fallback position for the royal family. Now that the Corinath family magically keeps the country safe from harm, this is not as necessary, but it's still a beloved summer retreat for the family.

High Virison—with "virison" meaning "mountain" in Formal Rubeth—is a very old town. The average age of any given building is two hundred years old, with a few being substantially older and only one being made in the last decade. A new stable was needed to compensate for a good year and bountiful animal husbandry.

Visually, High Virison is hard to see. The homes are low to the ground, in a few cases even carved into the mountain. The most common building material is stone, because it's plentiful in the area. In a lot of cases, this stone is then overgrown with moss or even covered by dirt to further insulate against harsher winters.

High Virison might be cold and prone to blizzards in the winter, but the land is fertile enough that they're able to raise and grow all they need to survive. They've also crafted ample storage space.

The castle stands apart from the village, but everyone considers it to be part of the village. Children are accustomed to playing on the walls and in the courtyard, and in a lot of ways it forms the equivalent of the village square.
