Wulvtooth Arrows
Mechanics & Inner Workings
Wulvtooth arrows are designed to inflict heavy damage and bleeding onto large targets such as bison, bear, elk, dragon, and enemy mounts such as horses. With incredibly large arrowheads that come to a large bow, the arrows generally penetrate through armor, flesh, and will often break bones in humanoids. Known to cause massive bleeding from their sharpened barb tips, the arrows must be removed through surgical intervention if the victim of their shot can survive long enough to receive medical care.
Flare runes attached to the arrows emit a powerful pules of magical energy that it itself cause cause explosions when combined with other runes, activated, or targeted with mana. The runes are generally used to cause a massive flash of light that can blind a struck enemy and also allow for allies to target them more easily in poor conditions such as fog, snow, or rain.
History
The arrow type was devised by Odii, one of the wolf god's sons and a proficient archer. The arrows were created to solve the issues presented by Amos Vulapin's poor long distance vision in battles alongside Odii, and to prevent targets from escaping his greater range. By causing a large flash of light when they are struck, the arrow serves as an easy to see target for the brothers to work with in tandem, allowing Odii to mark targets and Amos to strike them down.
The arrows have been adopted by the Pack of Ferventi's main sect during the War of the Moon for striking down dragons and blinding them while in flight.
