Illusion
Illusion is a fairly straight forward spell, causing a target or targets to see, hear, and in particularly talented casters, feel what the caster wishes them to.
A survey conducted in 19981 by the Sacramento University of Constructed Magic Applications found that the vast majority of illusion spell uses were for practical applications such as infrastructure (signage, road closures/detours, hazard warnings), medical usage (diagrams, scar/deformity coverage, visual aids), and cosmetic use. A repeat survey in 20007 found a 14% increase in usage of illusions categorized as cosmetic in their use, with most survey respondents reporting their uses of illusions were often in the place of, or in conjunction with other cosmetics such as makeup, hair/feather/scale dyes, temporary tattoos, and to accentuate fashion items.
Concerns raised in the 19990s about potential use for criminal activity, such as disguises and identify theft, have been proven to be unfounded. Modern day camera lenses can often see through or detect illusion use by way of specialty filters that cameras in the 90s could not, as well as the high maintenance of using illusions long term causing significant spell residue to be left on a person, making them quite easy to detect who they were cast by, even by the layman. Sacramento University also ran surveys about peoples' concerns about illusion usage and how it may affect people's views, and in the original '81 study, the majority of those concerned about the spells marked their primary concerns as being related either to crime or how illusions may shape one's view of their own person, such as inducing dyphoria and dysmorphia in long time users.
Effect
Illusion causes auditory and visual hallucinations at a caster's will. These hallucinations can be anything, often used by Neia Lun De Draco and the lunar dragonflight to cause enemies to attack one another, and is a favorite means of escaping combat by Lorenzo McConnell. It however, has broad usage outside of war and combat.
Manifestation
As with most forms of lunar magic, illusion will cause the moon to be reflected in the caster and target's eyes for it's duration. The color of the reflection and its intensity can vary, however, and particularly talented casters can 'layer' illusions in front of their faces to hide such.

Applied Restriction
Illusion, unlike many other lunar spells, is not restricted and often used in daily life for a variety of mundane purposes. It can be used for signage, presentations, advertisements, or any use where visual or auditory needs are to be met. Although it can be used maliciously, the benefits far outweigh the risks. Some areas place restrictions on using illusions for cosmetic reasons in certain areas, such as government buildings.
