Summer Solstice Tradition / Ritual in Reaperdom | World Anvil

Summer Solstice

The Summer Solstice is an event celebrated around the world and realms. Originally a pagan celebration, many of the realms use it as a chance to celebrate the upcoming harvest, the blessings from the spring, and an excuse to throw extravagant parties.   The most famous party is thrown by the Reapers at Reaper Headquarters in London. Lord D'aeth is usually the one that organizes it and he goes all out as a way to let his people celebrate and be merry. There is a fabulous ball that is open to many of the realms leaders and peoples, complete with an extensive feast. Chef Anton is famous for his feasts and the foods he serves. Alongside the ball and feast; there are bonfires, maypoles, decorations, and dances throughout the headquarters. Nearly everyone agrees that the Reapers throw great parties! Although, their decorations may leave some confused. Lord D'aeth adores silver streamers and skulls in his decorations. He does try to make the skull effigies act merry by depicting them blowing bubbles or dancing.    Often times, the Summer Solstice is another celebration of love. Many couples choose to marry during this time and complete handfasting ceremonies or complete love spells. Barnabus D'aeth and Rosa Whiteheart are an example of a couple that celebrates their anniversary during the Summer Solstice.

History

The history of the Summer Solstice began with the pagan seasonal rituals and continued to evolve over the years. Now a part of the Wiccan Wheel of the Year, the Summer Solstice is still celebrated throughout the realms.

Execution

Depending on the group or people celebrating; there may be bonfires, dancing, food, meditation, and reflection on the rest of the year.

Components and tools

The bonfires usually have oak wood.   The feast that Chef Anton prepares changes every year but typically he tries to keep things seasonal and fresh.   With Lord D'aeth, he continues to use silver and skulls in his decorations because he just loves that as his aesthetic.
