The Titan Forest

The Titan Forest is a continent located to the Southwest of Navosh. It is an oblong, isolated continent covered entirely by massive trees. The trees are larger in scale than the castles of Lyra, and form a network of life covering the continent. There were once inhabitants that lived in the Titan Forest, but they were decimated with the Cataclysm. Their dwellings were built into the trunks and branches of the trees, and they survived off the produce foraged and farmed wtihin the forest. In the time since the Cataclysm, many of the trees on the outskirts of the continent have begun fossilization, but the trees at the center continue to grow. The crew finds Oria at the heart of the forest, keeping the center alive.

History

Humans were known to inhabit the Titan Forest as early as 1000 BC, although they may have settled there earlier. It is said that when humanity was first exploring the world, a ship protected by Seene happened on the forested continent. The Vessels of Seene used their powers to grow the forest to gargantuan size, and coaxed the trees to form capsules in their trunks and hanging pods from higher branches. They built walkways to connect the trees where the branches lacked, and formed a city in the forest. They foraged from the forest and created farms, and abstained from hunting the animals within the forest.   When the Cataclysm struck the Titan Forest, it came in the form of famine. The forest began to die, and all of the life within as well. The soil dried, and the fields went fallow. The natural sources of food also died, leading to the mass extinction of the species found on the island continent. The humans living within the forest could not have hunted even if they had wanted to. Eventually, the trees themselves began to die, with the trees closest to the shore turning to stone as the years wore on. The remaining Vessels of Seene used what energy they could to keep the Forest alive, but they were picked off by the Cataclysm. The only one left to keep the island alive was Oria. Oria, a younger vessel, sang himself into the central tree of the continent. He entered a hibernation state within the tree, with the forest keeping him alive, and his connection to Seene keeping the heartwoods from turning to stone.   In the interim between the Cataclysm and the Resurgence, a few species returned to the island. Some species of migratory birds took shelter in the top branches of the forest. After the Resurgence, in an effort to restore the forest, a group of settlers brought various species of deer, rabbit, wlidcat, and birds to the island as well as a stock of seeds to begin farming again. Slowly, the wildlife came to take over the island again, although many of the original species that called the forest home will never be seen again.
