Prismatic Imperium

Founded from the ashes of the previous Aerein empire, the Prismatic Imperium is a very large empire which spans the bulk of the northern segment of the Dornat continent. It came in to most of its land through military expansion and conquest, expanding the borders of the previous empire by conquering Erat to the south and Ingria to the east. Mostly peaceful now that it has run up against natural borders, specifically the Border Mountains in the south and the foothills of Goldfist in the north. It consists primarily of humans but is hugely racially diverse, including even a smattering of monstrous races, due to its size and network of global trade connections. Its capitol, Talsiere, is the largest city in the world by population. The Imperial Calendar is currently in the year 629, which is also the age of the empire as the calendar began with the First Imperial Council.

Structure

The Prismatic Imperium has a two-part government. A legislative side is comprised of a Senate, with senators elected by citizens. Anyone born to a citizen is also a citizen, any landowners, even foreign in origin, are citizens, and citizenship can be bestowed on anyone with executive power. The Senate votes on laws, and the most senior senator is the Primus Suffragus, whose job is to break tie votes and ensure that passed laws are well-enforced throughout the country.
There is also an executive side of government which is an odd mix of feudal nobility, all of whom owe fealty to the highest noble, the Emperor or Empress. Titles in this area pass through heredity or are awarded by other nobility. The Emperor is the head of state and sovereign of the Prismatic Imperium, and may instruct lower nobles in how to execute the law through decrees. The Emperor and lower nobility, as executors of the law, also administer the justice system, usually through appointed justices.

Public Agenda

The Prismatic Imperium is in a period of political, economic, and military stability. The Senate's current agenda is the growth of the Census Population and Citizenship through the expansion of state-organized trade missions and diplomatic outreach, as well as using social policy to encourage citizenship to be given more freely to non-citizens. The Emperor's current agenda is the consolidation of Imperial power through the distribution of financial and military support to disparate and outlying Imperial settlements and colonies.
