The God-Mark

Every person is born with a tattoo-like mark on their skin that signifies their deity. While one may be born with a specific God-Mark, they may gain a different mark or lose their original one throughout the course of their life. Also, if a person does something highly favorable to their god, their mark may grow in size.
Marks also give certain advantages to some followers. These advantages might be certain types of magic, increased physical ability, or other enhancements. These only happen when the person is particularly favored.
