If Ravengrin - in modernity or in days gone by - could have ever been said to have a complex political world, at its center would be Anya Kovak. With a past enshrouded in vague stories and tantalizing mystery, Anya has singlehandedly manipulated at least half of the factions throughout all of Ravengrin.

Early Life

Anya's childhood is shrouded in mystery, a fact which she has manipulated and exacerbated to further her reputation. Rumor says that she was involved in one of the larger criminal organizations in Ravengrin, or that she is a foreigner from far across the seas. These rumors are, however, just that: rumors. In reality, next to nothing to known about Anya's actual childhood, or whether or not she even had one.
Immediately before her rise to power, however, she was a minor member of Valendost's aristocracy, barely more than a maid for a petty noble.
That changed, exceedingly quickly.

Rise to Power and Accomplishments

Kovak used the days of unrest and turmoil before the rise of Casca Richelieu and the formation of the The Valendost Concord as a stepping stone to plunge herself into the political world, and seize as much power before the vacuum formed from Eitridea's eventual collapse. She manipulated, couped, bribed, flirted, and courted her way into the good graces of most of the powerful factions left in Ravengrin.
Anya Kovak, most believe, did not rise to power as a matter of her circumstances. Neither family nor mentor can be found, no instructor in the art of politics. Instead, Anya is said to be a self-made woman. It was purely through her ambition, intelligence, and acumen that she was able to achieve the success she has. This alone is an accomplishment that few in Ravengrin can claim.
Throughout her career, Anya Kovak has both ingratiated and ingrained herself into multiple different factions throughout Ravengrin. Most notably, she is one of the largest supporters and allies of the The Company of Free Traders. It is well known in political circles - though not necessarily accepted - that without her, the Company would collapse within a few years, due to the shifting tides of Ravengrin's wilderness.

Appearance and Demeanor

Not only is Anya Kovak renowned for her success, political acumen, and power, but she is considered to be one of the most beautiful women in all of Ravengrin. She is a tall human female, of relatively average build, if slightly lean. Her face is sharp-featured, with a slightly aquiline nose. She has dark hair, which she grows long, but usually wears tied up in some manner. Her eyes are grey.
Anya is never seen in public without a long glove on her left hand, which reaches up to her elbow. The significance of this glove has sparked the interest of many. Many believe that it covers some scar or tattoo, and it has further added to her mystique.
Kovak is known to have an outwards demeanor of friendliness, sometimes casual flirtatiousness, but her reputation has revealed that much of this amiability is purely a means of manipulation. Shrewder individuals take this as a sign to stay away from Kovak, but these are few and far between. Anya is known to have a plethora of different would-be-suitors, all of whom try desperately to ingratiate themselves in her eyes. This behavior is further heightened by the fact that Anya often does accept and reciprocate these advancements, if only temporarily.
