The Vagrant (ðə ˈveɪɡrənt)
He found himself on his knees, his body long gone cold from the cruel sun above. His thoughts raced with denial about the situation. Had he not traveled further than this before? Had he not wandered from city to city most of his life? How could it be here, only a few weeks from Seaway that he found himself out of heat and out of luck.
"No." he thought to himself, "This cannot be it." With a surge, he let go his remaining Faith to bring himself to his feet. Though his focus was only on putting one frost-bitten foot in front of the other, his eyes saw something that could not be. In front of him, the freshly fallen ash had the markings of old boots having passed through only recently.
His mind blank and body freezing, he carefully followed this trail he could only think of as a trick of the mind. The sun rose and fell several times as he followed the tracks. His body crying out for rest but his will remained strong. It was not until he reached the industrial gates of Old Needle did he collapse, his body coated in ice and ash, carefully wrapped around a large Vagrant's Trinket.
Introduction
Unlike most divine, the Vagrant is not truly a single divine but rather a powerful manifestation of the Domain of Vagrants. This nebulous nature allows any Sophont to be gifted the power of a Divine for short periods if the Domain deems them worthy. Stories have existed since before the arrival of the First Engineers of the lost or wounded being granted extraordinary powers so that they may survive the impossible.
