Locathah
These resilient and proud fish-folk have endured war, slavery, and mistreatment at the hands of other aquatic creatures. They dwell in submerged tribal communities along seacoasts, and hunt both above and below the water.
- Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2 and your Dexterity score increases by 1.
- Age. Locathah mature to adulthood by the age of 10 but have been known to live up to 80 years.
- Alignment. Most locathah are true neutral or have some aspect of neutrality in their alignment. They tend toward good, coming from a culture where compassion for the downtrodden is a commonality.
- Size. Locathah stand between 5 and 6 feet tall and average about 150 pounds. Your size is Medium.
- Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet, and you have a swim speed of 30 feet.
- Natural Armor. You have tough, scaly skin. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC is 12 + your Dexterity modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield’s benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.
- Observant and Athletic. You have proficiency in the Athletics and Perception skills.
- Leviathan Will. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, frightened, paralyzed, poisoned, stunned, or put to sleep.
- Limited Amphibiousness. You can breathe air and water, but you need to be submerged at least once every 4 hours to avoid suffocating.
- Languages. You can speak, read, and write Aquan and Common.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Locathah are semi-amphibious water dwellers who look like fish with finned humanoid arms and legs. They breathe through gills and can resemble any type of fish.
Genetics and Reproduction
Locathah are compatible with Kua-Toa, Tritons and Merfolk, with the offspring most resembling the mother. They lay 1-3 eggs per brood, with eggs taking about a year to hatch.
Growth Rate & Stages
Locathah maturity by the age of 10, but have been known to live up to 80 years. They spend about a year inside of their eggs. When a Locathah emerges from its egg, it is fully formed, but small. They can usually talk by the time they hatch, and have the mental maturity of a five-year-old.
Ecology and Habitats
Locathah are water-dependent, and as such mostly live their lives in underwater cities. They tend to prefer warm saltwater, but there are ones who thrive in the cold, or in fresh or brackish waters.
Civilization and Culture
History
No known major civilizations. They tend to be loners and outcasts, or travel in groups with other Locathah.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Locathah are often untrusting of other races, and tend to be standoffish around those not their own due to the history of slavery and trauma associated with being at the bottom of the social hierarchy of the sea.
