Gladrian- Port Westfall

City History, Culture, Trade and Description   Port Westfall is a smaller port city on the southern coast of Gladria, nestled in a large cove between imposing sea side cliffs. despite its small size however, the town is very busy, exporting raw materials dwarven constructs from Bal Faldor, as well as food goods from the the halfling villages. The town itself has large seaside walls, and a large garrison to defend against seaward assault, as they have had to do several times defending against incursions from Somick raids. The people are very mistrusting of other races or outsiders, particularly ones hailing from south of the mountains.   Important Characters   Baron Cromwell- a tall human woman, with long braided black hair, and eternally stern look. She is often dressed in ornate full armor, and is a veteran paladin, who earned her position as a reward for gallantry on the front lines during the Demonic Invasions 15 years past. She is also a dedicated paladin of Kiri- Jolith. Her job as she see's it is to defend this city against any possible incursions by potential enemies.   Commondant Hedly- An older human man who is past his prime, greying hair and a slightly hunched back. Often dressed in an ornate chest-plate and a dress sword with little practicality. He is in theory in charge of the defense of the city, but has long ago ceased to care, believing the defenses established are more than enough to defend the city in the case of attack, which is very unlikely as there hasn't been any more than raiding of the country side in over a decade. He would like to enjoy his retirement days, and resents Cromwell for making his life so needlessly difficult.   Captain Lucas Ironwood: a young and ambitious man in the town guard, recently promoted to second under Commodant Hedly. He is known for his unwavering commitment to upholding the law and protecting the citizens of his town. He was orphaned at a young age and grew up in the tough streets of the town, but he worked hard to earn a place in the guard and has quickly risen through the ranks.   Lyra Nightshade: A young elven woman with a fierce determination and a talent for both swordplay and magic. Lyra is a member of the Lion Order of Talons and serves as their representative in the city, She wears a suit of enchanted armor and wields a magical sword that can channel her spells. Lyra's spells range from offensive bolts of energy to protective shields that can ward off attacks. She is well-respected among her fellow Talon warriors for her combat skills and quick thinking in battle.   Father Moltese- a surprisingly musccular man for his age, he has a bald head and black beard just beginning to turn grey. He is a vetran of the Southern front, working as a healer for many years on the front lines and is old friends with Cromwell. He runs a small temple to the gods at the center of the city, welcoming anyone in need of help.   Book Keeper Artasia- a young women who served as Cromwells page in the old days, and has been retained as her personal assistant, keeping track of the cities commerce and taxes. She is skinny, frizzy red hair and large brimmed glasses. She is decent at her job, but is genrally unqualified, outsourcing much of her work to the Steelswords guild and depending on them to keep things running smoothly. She has a hero crush on Cromwell, and will do just about anything for her approval, or avoid disappointment.   Local Quests   Gregory Ashglade is looking for his mother Amelia, who went missing 6 months ago in the mountains. He is willing to offer his life savings, 15 gold, for anyone who is able to give him leads as to what happened to her. She was last seen heading towards the lovers Grove, a small forest up a mountain pass.   Redstone Keep- Redstone Keep is an imposing structure located in the heart of the city, serving as both a fortress and the seat of power for the local government. The keep is a large, three-story stone building with thick walls and sturdy towers, designed to withstand attacks from invaders or rebellious factions. The keep has a grand entrance gate that opens onto a spacious courtyard, where troops can be drilled and trained, and supplies can be stored. The courtyard is also used for official ceremonies and functions, such as parades and speeches.
  • Inside the keep, the ground floor houses various administrative offices, guard barracks, and armories, while the upper floors are reserved for the living quarters of the nobles and government officials. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with large fireplaces to keep out the cold and luxurious furnishings to provide comfort and luxury.
  • Drog: A tall, muscular human guard with a bushy beard and a no-nonsense attitude. Drog takes his job very seriously and is always on the lookout for trouble. He carries a heavy warhammer and wears a suit of chainmail armor.
  Ivory Heights- an exclusive residential district where the city's nobles and wealthiest citizens reside. The area is characterized by its spacious mansions, grand gardens, and elegant fountains. The streets are lined with tall trees and the air is filled with the sweet fragrance of flowers. Guards patrol the area to ensure the safety of the residents, and the local shops cater to the affluent clientele.
  • The Silver Thread- a luxurious tailor shop located in the heart of the city's noble district. The shop is owned and operated by a talented and spirited halfling tailor, named Tilly. The exterior of the shop is decorated with ornate carvings and features large windows that display the latest fashions and designs. Inside, the shop is filled with the soft glow of chandeliers and the sweet fragrance of perfumes and fine fabrics. The walls are lined with bolts of the finest silk, satin, and velvet, and the shelves are stocked with an array of colorful ribbons, lace, and trims. In the center of the shop, there are several plush chairs where customers can relax and enjoy a cup of tea or a glass of wine while Tilly takes their measurements.
  • Kira: A lithe and agile half-elf with piercing green eyes and short-cropped black hair. Kira is a skilled archer and prefers to keep her distance from potential threats. She wears leather armor and carries a bow and quiver of arrows.
Cobblestone Quarter- a bustling residential district where the city's working-class citizens reside. The area is characterized by its narrow streets, cramped houses, and crowded marketplaces. The buildings are made of stone and brick, with tiled roofs and small windows. The local shops sell everyday necessities at affordable prices, and street vendors offer a variety of food and wares. The district is vibrant and full of life, with people going about their daily business amidst the noise and bustle of the streets.
  • Healing and potions- a small apothecary can be found near the eastern gate, run by Gregory Ashglade, a 18 year old male human woodsman. He has long, wavy, gray hair and brown eyes. He studied herbs with his mother until she went missing a few years back up in the mountains. Now he collects herbs and makes rudimentary potions and salves for those in need to fund his search for her.
  • Obrigal's Workshop- a small and isolated tinkerer's shop located in the outskits of the Cobblestones Quarter. The shop is run by a skilled and eccentric dwarf named Obrigal, who is known for his experimental and dangerous gunsmithing technology. Inside the shop, there are gears and gadgets of all shapes and sizes, and the air is filled with the sound of hammers, occasional explosions, and the smell of dragonsoot and metal. Despite the risks associated with Obrigal's work, he has gained a loyal following among adventurers and mercenaries who are willing to pay top coin for his unique and deadly firearms. Obrigal is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible with his inventions, and he is always tinkering with new designs and ideas. 
  • He has even taken on five young orphans as apprentices to assist him in his work and teach them the ways of the trade, named Liam, Aiden, Ema, Olivia, and Avia.
  • Grum: A short, stout dwarf guard with a thick beard and a booming voice. Grum is jovial and friendly with most people, but can be fiercely protective when the situation calls for it. He carries a battleaxe and wears a suit of scale mail armor.
Golden Lane Market- The Golden Lane Market is the bustling merchant district of the town, known for its vibrant energy and diverse array of goods. The streets are lined with colorful stalls and storefronts, each offering unique and exotic wares from far-off lands The market is a hub of activity, with merchants haggling over prices and customers haggling for the best deals. The aromas of spices, baked goods, and roasted meats fill the air, mingling with the sounds of musicians and street performers. Despite its lively atmosphere, the Golden Lane Market can also be a dangerous place. Thieves and pickpockets roam the crowds, looking for easy targets, and rival merchants will stop at nothing to gain an edge over their competition.
  • The Stone Dragon- a large inn made of stone mixed with soot, creating a unique black speckled texture to its floor and walls. A large tapestry hangs over the fireplace depicting a lone female traveler holding a torch illuminating a large cavern and a sleeping dragon made of stone. 
  • It is run by a human woman named Haulsey, who is a former adventurer but retired to settle down and raise a family (but despite the many suitors, shes yet to find a man worth starting a family with).
  • General store- A large storefront near the center of town with large boxes of fresh foods in the front of the store. 
  • The store front is manned by Cilia Lacey, a 15 year old female stout halfling merchant. She has long, curled, black hair brown eyes and silky white skin. She mans the counter while her father, a halfing named Kinsly, works in the back. Despite her young age and sweet demeanor, she has a head for business and is ruthless with any who try and short change her because of her age.
  • Thalia: A young and eager human recruit, Thalia is determined to prove herself as a capable guard. She wears a suit of studded leather armor and carries a shortsword and shield. Despite her lack of experience, Thalia is fearless and always ready to defend her post.
  • Pickpocket- Jax is a skilled and nimble pickpocket, who uses his small size and quick reflexes to deftly steal from unsuspecting targets in crowded areas.
Seafarer's Quay- the bustling harbor district of the town, renowned as a major trading port and a hub of maritime commerce. Ships of all shapes and sizes dock at the quay, from sleek and speedy merchant vessels to bulky cargo ships and mighty war galleys. The district is always bustling with activity, with merchants and traders haggling over goods and sailors and dockworkers hustling to load and unload cargo. The salty sea air fills the lungs, mingling with the sounds of seagulls crying overhead and the creaking of ropes and rigging.
  • The Steel Swords Trading Guild storefront- a grand building located in the bustling Seafarer's Quay district of the town. The storefront is built from sturdy timber and adorned with intricate carvings, with the guild's emblem prominently displayed above the entrance. 
  • It is run by Kiera stonefront, a passionate and knowledgeable dwarf who works at the Steel Swords Trading Guild. She specializes in weaponry and armor, and is always eager to help customers find the perfect piece of equipment.
  • Beggars Drink- a dimly lit seaside dive bar with a rough-and-tumble atmosphere. The walls are adorned with old fishing nets and tattered flags, and the scent of salty sea air mixes with the smell of stale ale. The patrons are a mix of salty sailors, gruff fishermen, and rough-and-tumble adventurers looking for a drink after a long day at sea. Despite its rough exterior, The Beggars' Drink is a popular spot for those who enjoy a good drink and a hearty laugh. 
  • Its run by a scarred dwarf named Orkin of clan Bronzefire, who also is the head of a profitable smuggling operation in the city. 
  • Mercenary patron Kael- younger brother to Aria, a towering half-orc with rippling muscles and a fierce scowl. He wields a large battle axe and wears heavy armor, preferring to charge headlong into battle.
  • Mercenary patron Aria- older sister to Kael, a nimble and lithe half elf who favors speed and precision over brute strength. She wields a pair of short swords and wears light leather armor, using her agility and acrobatics to outmaneuver her opponents.
  • Blacksmith- The workshop is small, with a single forge and a few workbenches, but it's well-equipped with all the necessary tools to craft and repair metalwork for ships.
  • run by Tharkar of Clan Thornbread, a female dwarf who bears a large scar across her right hand from sticking it in a forge at a young age, and she has wanted to be a metal smith her entire life. She recently struck out on her own, and bought this workshop a few years ago, hoping to make her work legendary. So she is understandably bored of making ship fittings, and would jump at the chance to do something challenging and worthwhile.
  • The Fairfax- a grand trading ship with a sleek, black hull and towering masts adorned with vibrant red sails. The ship is impressively large, with multiple decks and spacious cabins for passengers and crew alike. 
  • At the helm of the Fairfax is the notorious teifling captain, Slagathor. Standing tall at 6'4", Slagathor is an imposing figure with jet black skin, sharp horns, and a piercing gaze. Despite his fearsome appearance, Slagathor is known for his shrewd business acumen and unwavering loyalty to his crew.
  • The Mermaid's Kiss- a small trading ship with a wooden hull painted in a faded turquoise color, giving it the appearance of a sun-bleached seashell. The ship's size is modest, with a single deck and small cabins for the captain and crew. 
  • At the helm of the Mermaid's Kiss is the captain, a striking figure named Aria Oceanborn. Aria is a water genasi, born of the sea and with the ability to breathe underwater. She has long, wavy blue hair that seems to shimmer like the ocean, and her eyes are a bright aquamarine color Aria is a skilled sailor and trader, using her natural affinity for the sea to navigate even the most treacherous waters. She has a keen eye for spotting hidden coves and underwater treasures, and her ship is often loaded with exotic goods and rare finds.
  • Marcus: A middle-aged human guard with a stern demeanor and greying hair. Marcus is a seasoned veteran and has seen his fair share of battles. He wears a suit of plate armor and carries a longsword and shield. Despite his gruff exterior, Marcus is respected by his fellow guards for his experience and leadership skills.
