Summoning Circles

Much debate has been had as to whether 'summoning circles', as they have been deemed by users and practitioners of the arcane arts, are devices left behind by the Gods, or if they are a marveled creation of man; bent on binding the very weft and weave to their will.
Others pose that they are a natural wonder; how then, do we explain those that lie dormant? Where do they lead? Perhaps the Gods themselves lie hidden, tucked away behind one of these fabled gateways, just waiting to be found.
Through rigorous study and testing (the most notable of course being those in Falconspire and Kingsport), it has been proven that summoning circles are linked to one another across vast distances, allowing the user to traverse hundreds of thousands of miles as though the two locations were merely footsteps apart.
There -are-, of course, inherent risks with arcane means of travel; name among them nausea, vertigo, and a possible sense of temporal displacement (theory?) though the largest risk comes in the use of the stone itself. Should it become dormant, you are forever trapped wherever it has left you.
Pray that if you should meet a God on the other side- it is a kind one.
