Dust

Mined from mineral deposits of Glowstone that grow upon ley-lines deep within the Underdark, Dust is a strange and fascinating crystal that seems to grow much like the roots of a tree.
In the recent years following its discovery, it's study has yielded minimal and inconclusive results.

"No one knows where it comes from. It just seems to grow from something deeper. Studies have shown variances within crystal mined from different areas. Some yields have a deeper hue; a kind of violet to them."

This is, of course, not without inherent risks from its study; as the deposits of crystal are also harvested in large quantities and then taken elsewhere to be processed and refined to create 'Dust', a type of black market drug that can be particularly dangerous, even in small doses.
The use of properly treated and refined Dust is said by some scholars and medicinal practitioners to alleviate the pains and ills of the body, mind, and soul, but in truth, scholars are still attempting to learn exactly what the long term effects of Dust are on the body, as it is a relatively new mineral.
Other scholars and alchemists posit that the addictive nature and side effects of Dust are so severe that the risks far outweigh the potential benefits, resulting in a users complete dependency on the aforementioned.

This crystal bears fascinating properties and is said to induce a kind of euphoria when within the presence of large quantities; it leaving a noticeable sweet taste to the air along with a phosphorescent glow.
