Arwen'el, the Great Mother Tree
This massive and magnificent tree stands stories above the already miles high ether oaks of the deep forests of the Elusian.
History
An old bard’s tale speaks of an ancient and beautiful Elf by the name of Arwen’el.
She is said to have fallen in love with a handsome and noble young human, and he with her, despite the Imperium viewing the relationship as sacrilege. Over time their affections grew and flourished into something beautiful; each of them having nothing but love in their hearts for one another.
The tale goes that he perished in a great battle after being drafted by the King, and his final resting place overlooked the majesty of his only love.
It’s said that Arwen’el, overcome with grief for her loss, fell to her knees, and cried at her lover’s grave for centuries, unmoving; eventually overtaken by nature and encased within the roots of a great tree which, supplied by her tears and grief, grew to an unnatural and extraordinary size.
It is said that she was the first Elf to enter Sol’asan, gaining an eternal connection with nature and becoming the great Mother Tree; and the source that guides and assists those Elves that are ready to depart the Material Plane.
Some folk say that they can hear cries of grief and despair coming from the great Mother Tree, but most sages and wizards simply dismiss the thought, convinced that it’s just the howling of the wind through her massive branches.
