Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon

The pillar of justice, protection, nobility, and honor, the Platinum Dragon stands as a beacon to many paladins of order and good, and is revered by most metallic dragons as the first of their kind. The crest of the Platinum Dragon adorns many halls of high leadership and justice, his will expected present at all just judgments. To follow him is to look after those who cannot look after themselves.   This majestic being is often seen emblazoned on shields and armor, both functional and decorative, in the form of a brilliant silver dragon head in profile. Temples and art pieces present a massive, glittering dragon of vibrant platinum sheen and seemingly endless wingspan.   It is rumored that Bahamut often visits the Material Plane in the guise of an elderly, venerable human accompanied by seven yellow canaries (seven shapechanged ancient gold dragons).

Holidays

The Platinum Dragon’s holy day is called Embertide, and is celebrated on the fifth day of the eleventh month. This is a day of remembrance, solemnity, and respect to those who have fallen in the defense of others.
The Origins of Bahamut & Tiamat   In the war of the gods at the dawn of time, the great dragon god Io, arose from the First Void. In time, a second void, a void of shadow formed, and from it arose a primordial of Darkness. In his arrogance, Io faced alone the Darkness called the King of Terror, but Io was outmatched. The Darkness clove Io in two with his adamantine axe, shedding his blood across the planes. While the Darkness thought his foe defeated, the two halves rose up as Io’s twinborn children, Bahamut and Tiamat, the Chromatic Queen. Together, they were greater than their father and joined forces to kill the King of Terror before they turned and began to fight against each other. Only when Tiamat fled the battle did both dragon gods aid the other gods in the war, though they preferred to work alone. Some dragonborn believed their race was born in that battle, when the first dragonborn arose from Io's blood.
