Wreath

Wreath is a planet of similar size to that of Rakuen, and is the second planet in the solar system. It is easily denoted by its beautiful blue appearance, and the remarkable ring of lunar objects that encircle it. The entire planet is oceanic, with only a very few islands which make up its seemingly infinite horizons. Wreath lacks a moon, but features a collection of asteroid-like bodies that encircle the entire planet. The sheer amount of these objects leads scientists to believe that at some point, Wreath had a moon, and it was destroyed by some means, with only the remnants left in orbit. These various rocks, some small and some very large, have been passively explored, but are highly dangerous and unstable. The constant presence of large masses in orbit leads to the fairly consistent presence of meteorite landings in the vast ocean, most of which cause tsunamis or otherwise fade away into the vastness of the ocean.   A very small collection of people live on Wreath, mainly: tritons, locathah, elves (especially sea elves), dwarves, gnomes, water genasi, gith, and humans.Given the vast amount of sea available, ocean-based lifeforms are highly common, including Kua-toa, Sahuagin, Merrow and merfolk, Sea Hags, along with various more terrifying beasts like Water Elemntals, Marids, dragon turtles, and krakens. Rumours suggest even more curious beings live in the deepest portions of the sea, where none have explored.   The premium on land means that land-dwelling individuals either move to cities constructed underwater in conjunction with ocean-dwellers, or otherwise pack themselves into tight knit communities. Some communities have been known to form out on the ocean waters in connected flotillas, but these are risky endeavours, as they are isolated and alone in case of emergency. Wreath presents as a seafaring dream, with sailing between regions acting as a major trade method.   But the vast oceans of Wreath are only half the appeal of the planet, for something deeper lurks. Dotted throughout the endless expanse are ancient ruins of a remarkably old civilization that no longer exists. Where land exists, there is almost certainly a sprawling, maze-like ruin descending underneath. But even upon the grand spaces between tiny landmasses, there are tremendous spires that stick straight out of the waters hundreds of feet into the air, and descending the entire way to the sea floor. These serve as various entrances to the larger mass of complexes below them.   Within each ruin lies technology never-before seen, even by some of the most proficient artisans in the solar system. Much of it is a form of magitek so ancient that it can not be reproduced, and some of it of completely foreign designs altogether. Littered throughout the sprawling corridors and tunnels are countless constructs of infinite varieties. Most are made of heavy and strong metals and armor. What their purpose is, none can tell. These constructs are usually referred to as Stewards. Some races have taken to worshiping the Stewards, while others see them as a menace. Stewards are usually docile, but seem to have strict controls that inform them to guard certain spaces of relevance, attack for resources, or patrol various portions of the dungeons. It has not been understood what their purposes may be though. Unless they are presenting as violent, however, they are mostly left to their own devices except for adventurers who are exploring deep into the complexes.   Nobody is quite sure how many spires there are throughout the world, nor how many ruins or dungeons exist. Although landmass dungeons have been widely explored, their great depths mean that even the most widely visited locations have never been fully explored. Those who have delved deepest only report that tunnels and facilities seem to be endless. Some question why so many spires and complexes would be needed, and what their purposes might be; other mages question whether the entire planet may be some form of Ecumenopolis. Many sea elf scholars hold debates on this possibility.   What can be said is that within these Spires and complexes lie Refractors. These magical gemstones are of unique make, empowered with great amounts of arcane energy by some unknown method. This has become Wreath’s main export, as these are remarkably valuable to mages anywhere throughout the solar system. However, these Refractor gems are also seen as power cells for the various constructs, and there are very extreme tariffs and laws surrounded around procuring Refractor gems, especially directly from destroyed constructs. This has, as a side-effect, caused rampant piracy, as people try to skirt the laws with the vast openness of seas as their cover.   The existence of so many tall spires has also led to airships being extremely prominent throughout the planet. These airships are extremely difficult to acquire since the normal materials to make such a massive invention are limited, and thus they are still quite rare. But those who do acquire airships use them liberally, especially to attempt to be the first to explore one of the many unexplored Spires that exist. It’s impossible to know which Spire has been explored without anyone marking their previous journeys, and even if they were explored, none can be sure how deep the prior visitors were able to delve.
