Wolf
Please note that I refer to werewolves simply as wolves, like most packs do due to the tendency to believe ordinary wolves are half-souled demons.
Basic Information
Anatomy
They have two alternable forms without one being superior to the other: common human appearance (more body hair that also falls faster, teeth and nails grow faster) and wolf (large size but not giant, the color may have or not related to the hair but usually they do, the eyes become brighter or change color).
Biological Traits
Wolves are a pretty homogeneous species, but in terms of DNA groups are clearly divided due to the closed nature of packs, altered only by loners that abandon one pack and join another.
Genetics and Reproduction
Their reprodution is pretty similar to the human, excepting that females can get pregnant in both forms. The fetus isn't damaged with its mother's shifting as her body is prepared to protect it during and after the shift.
Ecology and Habitats
Wolves can survive in any environment they can extract food, water and shelter. They are as adaptable as humans, or even more, but they tend to settle in forestal areas with prey.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Omnivorous. Most wolves collect plants and hunt small or big prey depending on the size of the group; bigger tribes or packs take down bigger prey while loners must survive with rabbits and other small ones. Some fish in rivers and lakes, and most tribes know how to store food for long periods of time.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
All kind of colors and markings not always related in both forms. Interestingly enough, the human form of parent and son is usually similar, exactly like the animal form of both, but the human and animal form of a wolf doesn't have to be similar at all.
