Session 31 - Into The Gleaming
General Summary
The Chaos Marked are heading into the planes to find a city that no longer exists in a place no one can safely survive in for long. Can they even survive the trip?
This week's session report comes to us from Cadok!
Raan into Darkness
The Chaos Marked are gathering in Tonbarony, to discuss a Expedition to the Ruins of the Napthali Civilization. Lanasia requests aid for this and her friends and allies aggreed on joining them. Also to reach that place, apparantly they will have to go to the Gleaming, the supposed Home of the Ancients. Which had Cadok interested for a while, since his Prayers, together with all the other Green Knights, got answers for the first time in Ages.
Throuhgout the discusssion, Vanilla and Sir Milo, the Adorable decided to join in, and the latter together with Hubaquaal went to a quick journey to Urveth, to find Cadok#s armor which is currently at the Prayer House Forge, so it withstands his Dark Blessing. Which funnily lead to Cadok accidently open up a Portal between the Doomforge and the Prayer House Forge, which made the return trip easier, but allowed all the Priests of War to come over, who quickly decided they wanted to set up shop there instead.
With all this Chaos dealt with, the Chaos Marked now ready and prepared shift over to the Feywild version of Tonbarony and head to the Gleaming. Sadly Cadok forgot that Tonbarony is surrounded by Autumn Court territory, so they were intruding on the more evil side on the Feywild and were quickly attacked. The Arboreal Reapers were esspecailly keen on eating Vanilla. In responds they were all hacked into bits by a very angry Group of Adventurers. A Fierying Fairy, a Fireball shooting Ferrus, a very stealthy Hubaquaal, a Chainlightning wielding Man, and whatever Cadok has become ripped them to shreds, with only 1 able to escape to spread the word.
Following that wooden Massacre, a Fiend approached them, asking what they business was, and Cadok send the message to King Jareth, that they are simply passing through and wish no further conflict. The Fiend took that message and since they were no longer beset by forces, it apparantly arrived.
Though an incident occured when a Nighthag from a Coven tried to put a curse on Vanilla, which the perceptive Hubaqaal spotted and protected her from, which caused him to lose conciousness. Which immidietly got the entire group on alert, who were ready to just walk past the evil Nighthags. But now Osburne turned into a huge Dragon and fried them all in 1 breath. Apparantly Cadok's magic can support people a lot when his will is focused. And Osburne really wanted to kill those Nighthags, whcih were incinerated on the Spot.
With them dead Hubaqaal recovered and they continued on, to the Edge oft eh Feywild, the Gleaming, whcih was sealed away. As Lanasia went on the read the Runes, Cadok closed his eyes and repeated a Ryhm all of his Order know:
"Untouched by shade, they dream in stardust, Deep within the Bright, The Ancients rest in slumber, In the Haunted Vaults of Light. And when their minds do touch the mortal Coil and find a soul, Whose mien is strong and bright and true Their light and strength they dole. And to these worthy souls they grant The strength to long defend. The enemies of life beware! This Champion means your end!"
Which was funnily enough exactly what was written on the Seal and what needed to be said by a Champion of the Ancients to open it.
The Path was open to the Domain of the Ancients, a Field of LIght and LIfe, but it was not destroying them, instead they found safe passage. For the Ancients approached them and welcomed them, and gave them Sanctuary. With their Blessing they were allowed to rest here and Pass through to the Ancient Home of the Naphtali, to the Elemental Chaos.
But the Heroes were also warned that a Guardian of Fortuna was still holding out there, awaiting Intruders.
Will the Chaos Marked overcome it? ANd what will this bring to Lanasia, will it bring her Peace?
