Session 25 - Dead Wood Running

General Summary

The group has repulsed the dead wood walking, but without attacking the source of the corruption, Tonbarony will never be safe. So with the assistance of the allied plant life, the Jungle Errants are taking the fight south, to whoever or whatever is poisoning the land with darkness!

The Chaos Marked, having repulsed the enemy that Glowstick warned them were coming, set down to relax and had themselves a little soire, but danger was on the horizon

A Thief Appears

The Chaos Marked were alerted to a thief who was attempting make off with one of the dragon eggs by a returning Xia Mae Li, and this set off a concerted effort to keep the thief from escaping. The thief used a powerful magic to flee after finally being cornered, but the group made short work of piggybacking it and arrived at a ruin to the south of Urveth. Once there, they were able to corner and finally apprehend the culprit. She begged the group to save the children that the demons had taken hostage and a heated combat began.

Demons Everywhere

Unfortunately for the Greater Barghests and Roru who had taken the children hostage, the Chaos Marked had followed their thief and combat began with an ear-splitting roar from Deekin that scared the heck out of a Barghest, enough so that they dropped the child they had and it ran to hide behind Deekin. The other demons fared little better, with Xia Mae Li roasting them, Ferrus ripping them to shreds with spiny reefs summoned beneath their feet and exploding them with fireballs, Deekin roaring and ripping like the storied dragons of yore his rage channels, Osburne exploding their heads and hearts will well placed bolts of lightning, Lanasia using the wind to beat the snot out of creatures at range, with Cadok and Star Tusk crashing to and fro with their lance to perforate the enemy!

Aftermath

The children all rescued, though one was nearly cut down and required Deekin's impressive healing skill to save, Cadok was successful in drawing the group back to Tonbarony. The thief, identified as Satoshi Kuru, was formerly a resident of Archdevil Dispater's garden, where rare and heretofore extinct and rare species are kept. Satoshi also revealed to the Chaos Marked that she had been put upon by a Geas that kept her from healing anyone but her own children or suffer immolation. Though Lamurias attempted to break the enchantment, it was Lanasia who was able to destroy it, by eating the glyph off of the poor woman's chest. Horny was not pleased. It was there that it came out that the eggs in their possession were Star Dragon Eggs. These are the same type of egg as the Dragon Deity Draco, and thus are literally demideities waiting to be born. Ferrus found himself also being granted a Chaos Mark, cementing his membership in the group, as well.
