Raan Extemporanis s.020 - Aedificium Ad Nauseum

General Summary

The Lords of Neverwhere continued to plumb the depths of the Aedificium today, making further progress and taking out several more packs of dangerous or broken creatures.

Aedificium Ad Nauseum

The session began with the group getting Tordan back from the latest time quake and taking a bit of time to collect themselves. Some ate, some drank, several watched the Pridespawn work on the corpse of the dragon. Until someone had the great idea to ask the doors if there were any more rooms like the one with the dragon that could end up hurting the group; a fear that Shauna now realized was quite justified. It was then that the group found out about something in the basement.

After searching the dormitory rooms and opening most of the storage rooms (and Shauna getting terrified by a rather large spider web) they found a creature in the one room they could not gain entry to with a creature in it that they would later learn is an Ettercap named Roscoe who did Web Development for the Aedificium. Importantly, the creature has a key in the room with them, but it doesn't go to the door they find themselves stuck behind. Thus the group is trying to find where the key to open that door is, and thus headed back up to the first floor.

Dwarf Sniffing

Both Togalt and Tordan ended up noticing the presence of an invisible assailant as they passed through the room with the staircases to head toward the wing they had not yet explored, but having had two near-misses with something attempting to do something to Tordan, Myu Wan's sniffing convinced those there that the jig was up and the group entered into a desperate fight with a pair of Chokers and D'ziriak. Though dangerous, Myu Wan popped the heads of both chokers off their bodies with well placed explosive rounds. And Zirmek the Mighty (cue fireworks) shredded the D'ziriak with telekinetic explosions most fierce.

Along Came A Splinter

Having taken down this threat, the group continued through into the east wing until they came upon the creation laboratory and found creatures hiding within. This time, the group was a bit less prepared and the wooden golem within quickly put the hurt on Myu Wan and Shaded Grove, nearly ending with the latter's death. Shauna, however, had made good use of her abilities to deflect damage from others and reduce the damage of attackers. She even summoned her "Tree Bro" in his newer, more powerful form, only to see this golem split him in half with a single strike.

As if this were not enough, there were tiny dolls filled with magical power that also attempted to harm the group. One greased up Zirmek and was going to light him on fire, but was taken out before it could do so, with Zirmek catching the alchemist's fire it was going to use. The other, however, was able to Harm poor Shaded Grove and put him in a position to be killed by the golem. If not for the luck that our heroes' intrepid natures foments, Shaded Grove would not have survived!

In the end, the Alchemist Fire that the doll tried to immolate Zirmek with became a powerful telekinetic projectile that buried itself deep within the wood golem, immolating it and incinerating the doll that had knocked Shaded Grove down.

Slow Down, Heroes!

Having (barely) survived that combat the group was met by a moppet of the manor, who bade them all eat and rest, as they could not possibly think to continue on without recuperation. And so, with the assistance of the allies they had made thus far, and with a plan to try and slide some food under the door for Roscoe, the group rested.

Highlights

  • Shauna is bad at keeping alcohol in her glass; current drink loss is 3
  • Fire makes short work of spider webs
  • Shaded Grove can take a surprising amount of punishment and stay standing; but even he has his limits
  • Myu Wan and her friend Regina are getting along swimmingly, as they seem to have bonded through Myu Wan's weapon
  • Zirmek is terrifying when they release their psyche
  • Moppets generally prefer not being treated like children ... unless they get scared; then they want Uppies!
  • Pocket steak is serious business to Siri
  • Togalt has become a bit more careful about leading into the fray; no word yet on if Mallorea has somehow frozen solid.
  • Tordan makes a very imposing bulwark that the enemy seems terrified to actually hit.
