Illeres

Illeres is a coastal port city in the Gezdivali region of Gnaritia. It's a traditional Kartolean Elven city, with round architecture and centralised tiered town square. The city has a rich history and a vast port that helps bring in goods from overseas to the rest of Gnaritia.
Thanks to it being warm for most of the year, Illeres is famous for its many vacation homes that belong to the wealthy citizens of the rest of Gnaritia, from Betbosen to Sobago. Because of the newly constructed nearby small port of Halk, travel to this city from the rest of the country has spiked. Many tourists from across the country come visit Illeres for its traditional architecture, hailing from cities where trade and the mixing of cultures has altered and modernised the look of buildings around them.
With schools, an Aroton, a thriving market and a long history of trade, what else could the citizens of Illeres ask for?

Demographics

The city is predominantly elven. Some are gezdi (the original inhabitants of the region pre-assimilation), but there is a large, new population of gnaritian elves, some with permanent residences, some only having summer homes here. There is, however, a wide range of species among the working class - vendors, entrepeneurs and, most importantly, dockworkers.

Industry & Trade

Illeres lives and thrives because of its international trade. The seaport brings the goods from overseas in and port Halk helps distribute them across the country. The fees for docking aren't high, but with how many ships come in daily, they don't need to be.
The citizens who do not dabble in trade tend to gravitate towards the local fishing scene, with seafood being the city's main export. There is a long tradition of shipcraft is also particularly of note, especially the craft of outrigger and double-canoe boats.

The Marketplace

The market in Illeres forms a narrow but long alley, leading from the ports to the central circle. The Day Market and Night Markets are just about what you would expect: artisan and produce products sold during the day, with the starry sky overlooking the sale of enchanted magical items and delicacies. As long as you are looking for something you want to buy with money, you will find it at the Market. You might want to wait until the sun sets or rises however - the Dawn and Dusk markets are the place to get yourself some quality items for cheap.

The Hibiscus spa

On the Port side of Main street, you will find a large, tiered building with a modest but prominent fountain display in front of the entrance. That would be the most well-known establishment for relaxation in all of Illeres - the Hibiscus spa. Run by an eccentric Water Genie, one who has close ties to the history of the city, it is the place to come and lay your worries down for just an hour or a few. The owner even has a few treatments advertised for those who may feel fatigued from casting spells all day. As far as anyone who has tried it is concerned, they are to die for.
