Archivists' relations and conflict chronicling association
The Archivists' Relations and Conflict Chronicling Association (ARCCA for short) is a society/organisation formed and residing in the southern-west area of the Mountains of Testimony. It is a mostly secret organisation that is in close working relationships with most Kartolean governments, both sides benefiting from a mutual relationship - the governments provide entry and access to the state, letting ARCCA do their research, while ARCCA provides important geographical and geopolitical information, even if they swear they would never divulge any information that may lead to war. They work closely with a variety of societies and guilds, like the
Viridian Vein.
ARCCA is a society dedicated to chronicling the conflicts, major events and cultures of R'Ondell as they take place, but unlike the devoted dwarven followers of the god Troginar, this is a strictly high-elven organisation, and as such, proves itself elitist at times.
Regardless, ARCCA has information about nearly every corner of R'Ondell, and many adventurers benefit from withstanding a bit of ridicule for the sake of ensuring optimal safe travels.
The headquarters of ARCCA are located in the city of Inchar, but many locations across Khartol serve as inconspicuous archives.
One's Place Within ARCCA
Members of ARCCA fill a variety of roles: field researchers, base researchers, messengers, archivists, diplomats and many more. Researchers are active authors of the many texts inside ARCCA archives. Field researchers venture out and seek out knowledge while base researchers settle down in one specific location to conduct their research. Messengers then collect texts and move them to Inchar, or make copies of Inchar texts and move them to remote archives for easier access for relevant parties. Archivists are in charge of organising and lending out texts from the many archives that ARRCA keeps and sponsors. They have to have intimate knowledge of the kinds of texts their specific archive contains, and are trained lecturers in case anyone needs anything explained. As such, most often, large remote archives may have more than one archivist, and in Inchar, archivists are assigned very specific sections based on their field of study. Diplomats of ARCCA are an indispensible asset to ARRCA. With their efforts, the operations of the association have been approved and state-sponsored in most countries in Khartol. In these countries, ARRCA workers are given certain protections to ensure their research can be conducted safely. What might your character know?
Who? No, seriously, your character most likely won't know who or what ARCCA is. They're purposefully secretive, as having their operations well-known would mean being at risk from individuals who do not want their deeds to be known... However, some characters might (emphasis on might) know what ARCCA is. For example, in cases where your character or your character's loved one has been interviewed by an ARCCA researcher, holds a high position within a Khartolean country's government, or is someone who does extensive in-depth research that wouldn't be easily accessible
