Session 3- The Water Clock Guild
General Summary
Our intrepid party ended last session smarting from a fireball.
As they recovered their senses they noticed it had all gone very quiet.
Their keen eyes spotted a distortion and Sparko called of Lathanders power exposing a sinister looking eye.
His spell failed to damage it but in typical fashion Big Al attempted to grab it.
He succeeded only for it to ooze out his grasp into the clamping jaws of Feldon who missed.
Finally Nysander got in on the action attempting to Web it again it oozed free.
Nysander realised it was a version of a Arcane eye spell.
Between Sparko and Nysander they managed to dispel it, not wanting to be spied upon.
After some discussion the party head3d south to seek a way round the trap zone between crypts.
They discovered a huge pool with creatures within and pipes running through out.
Feldon attempted to communicate but realised they were not natural creatures.
They explored the area finding a vault door which eventually big Al forced open to find a clockwork workshop with a strange reptilian elemental creature within.
Her name was Shanzezim some sort of Artificer working on her project the Portal Clock.
She offered to show them but discussions the party found out a gnome called Umberto was trapped in a cell nearby whom they freed to discover he was indeed one of the hostages. He revealed he was an Expert on Cults and Lore and had been employed by Lady Allustriel to research Vecna.
He revealed a new secret of the Shadow Rifts portals to the Shadowfell land of dead and darkness a mirror universe where Vecna sought his book of vile darkness.
He also revealed that the Cultists keep abominations called nothics who steal secrets.
And that the plan of the Cult was to open a Shadow Rift by sacrificing Eldon another of the hostages.
The party returned to the Trap Killing zone and Sparko delivered a firery blow of his own then lead the charge into the Cultist hide out.
In a short brutal battle the party defeated 5 Cultists and 3 Vecna Mages.
