Traveling through regions of the Blightsource Plain without magical or natural protections from the residues of Divine Magics unleashed during the blightsource explosion.  Although travelers through the uninhabitable regions of the Plain usually only develop nausea, a few develop a chronic disease that alters their perception of the world and is very difficult to cure.
