The Wall Mirrors

Many people have heard stories about the wall mirrors, but rarely has anyone ever claimed to see one beyond the context of campfire stories or haunted gossip. Wall mirrors are one way that devout followers of Ao’di have claimed to make contact with her. They are said to be an alternative way to access her expansive labyrinths, with the primary source being a form of dream state ritual.
With Ao’di being the goddess of luck and mystery, it is no surprise that the myth of wall mirrors is seemingly shrouded in half-truths. Some affluent lords claim to own one and flaunt their ability to use them, while others say travelling merchants have swindled them with look-alikes. Scholars, commoners, and vagrants alike have also claimed to see Ao’di’s halls in the reflection of their common mirrors, if only for the blink of an eye. One commonality in all accounts is that all wall mirrors are comprised of seamless, body length glass with a wooden frame.
Accounts of accessing a wall mirror have varied drastically, but seem to coincide with the similar dream state experiences of harvest rituals. Ao’di’s domain is always referred to as a labyrinth even though some have rumoured to traverse a single tranquil, brightly lit hallway. Conversely, initiates of her teachings have been said to be traumatized by nightmarish, torturous mazes where shadowy beasts followed their every turn.
It is speculated that, instead of physically walking through the glass, the accounts of using a wall mirror put the user in a state of mental trance, since all known cases of accessing one have been in solitude. This caveat has served to fuel the myth and any possibility that wall mirrors can be crafted, or if they existed in the first place.
