Eftir

Eftir is the plane of the dead.

The Journey to Eftir

When somebody dies, they begin the journey to the plane of Eftir. Their soul is taken by one of the Valkyries and transported to Dómara where they are judged for their lives. If they are deemed to have done wrong, then they are taken by the Spirit Walker to a river of lava where they must swim to Sársauka to live through their afterlife. If they had been a good person, they were allowed to walk down a path to the Golden Plains, to live a free and happy life. If the Valkyries had chosen them to be one of the Legendary Heroes that will live evermore in Friður, they ride on a huge eagle's back to Friður to live out their afterlife. Some of these heroes are allowed into the Halls of the Chosen to live an even happier afterlife.

Areas

Myrkur City

Myrkur City lies at the center of Eftir, and is the home to the Valkyries and the guards that patrol Eftir. Members of the Golden Plains and Friður are allowed to visit Myrkur City but they are under high security at all times ever since Vonduryr's escape of Eftir.

Castle Myrkur

At the top of Myrkur City is Castle Myrkur, where the Valkyries live and can see into the lives of people in Pyris. The highest room has a door to Dómara for them to easily travel in between Pyris and Eftir when necassary.

The Vault of Memories

The Vault of Memories contains the memories of every person in Eftir, kept secret from any visitors. It is guarded by the most elite of Eftir's guards, and has only ever once been broken into, during Vonduryr's raid through the city.

The Golden Plains

The Golden Plains are the afterlife for most people on Pyris, the ones who live a good life. It is a peaceful and happy place, with beautiful landscapes to explore and wonderful creatures roaming the land. It has everything needed to sustain its inhabitants, and people are reunited with their friends and family when they enter.

Sársauka

After their long and torturous journey down the river of lava and fire, a person who lived a wrong life arrives in Sársauka. Sársauka is just an empty void with nothing to keep you sane. The mental torture lasts for eternity, keeping your soul alive but never letting you leave.

Friður

Friður is the area reserved for the people chosen by the Valkyries to live forever in eternal bliss. Everything a member of Friður could want is in there, and all pain and suffering is forgotten. The people of Friður are allowed to travel between here, Myrkur City and the Golden Plains to visit their loved ones.

The Hall of the Chosen

The Hall of the Chosen is a smaller section of Friður reserved for the people given the highest honour by the Valkyries. Only 8 people have ever been there, including Innleysa, who later became one of the Valkyries. While in the Hall, you are in a constant state of harmony, no sorrow ever passes the walls of the Hall.

Location

Just like the Raventhrone, Narini and Arkarren, Eftir is not accessible via the Wandering Realm, but is rather in its own pocket dimension, and so the only way to enter it is by dying.

The Valkyries

The Valkyries are the angelic beings that rule over Eftir. They are responsible for choosing what mortals may enter Friður and looking after the people who live in the plane. There are nine in total, with the most powerful and important of all being Lífið.
Zanurythe used to be one of the Valkyries, but fell from grace and was replaced by Innleysa, a member of Friður who had lived a life of goodness and who they deemed worthy of joining them.
