Deep in the Washington woods, just East of the Rockies, nestled between the pine trees stands the wooden castle city of Cosmic Crisp. Dozens of carved trunks, petrified together, protect its inner city. The citizens of this strange dwelling seem distant, not always grim but numb to destruction that has become common place in their woods. Not even the citizens know who built the cast, but the superstitious among them believe the castle has been blessed with regenerative powers by the 'Mother Oak' Tree that resides in Firm Roots. The official record of the city, found in the City Center, states that the city has been an established city since the dawn of time. No matter how old it claims to be, all buildings appear to be up to date for the setting. 3-5 story buildings with electricity, plumbing and the odd telegram. All residence who want to bring vehicles in and out of the city must pass through the Castle Gate, a sectioned off security checkpoint, operated by the Wall Guard. Cosmic Crisp produces its own power in the Deafening Reservoir and the rows of Cosmic Crisp apples in the farmland serve as both a food source and an export to Seattle. Residence who can afford it live in Ramsey Grove, a suburb with a rotating speakeasy. Whitby Manor is the one part of the city that is completely cut off to the public and is home of the longest tracible legacy in the city.   Standing in stark contrast, across the River is the rival city of Lady Alice. About half the size of Cosmic Crisp, Lady Alice is considerably newer. At 8 stories tall, McCord Apartments is the only point on the map where the entire overarching map is visible as it. The city has only been recognized for the past 5 years and as such, a rivalry between the two cities has formed. The residence of the city reproduce like bunnies and all seem just a little too content in life. While the residence of Lady Alice view their relationship as a friendly rivalry, Cosmic Crisp citizens have an active distain for anything that comes from the city. Under McCord Apartments is a speakeasy, quietly breaking the Volstead Act. Rumor has it the Clyde-Gomer Sports Arena doubles as a distillery for a bootlegger from Spokecan. Lady Alice has a farmland of Lady Alice apples that mirrors Cosmic Crisp to the patterning of the trees.   Between the two contrasting cities is a forest full of cold damp air, dark winding dirt roads and God only knows what those lights you saw were. You've seen headlights before but you've never seen them fly like that. The thick in particular is very dangerous, driving some mad after spending just a few hours in it. After dark, the ranger's office is your best hope of survival. Generally well lit and with a phone line to Cosmic Crisp, Lady Alice, and NEST. Hidden somewhere in the woods, bootleggers, gangsters and hooded figures from both cities gather. No one person knows everything that happens in the woods, if they did they'd be dead soon after. The Log Mill is the one area other than the Ranger's office that has a major human touch to it. Through the day time the Log Mill employs citizens of both cities, during the night, the area has a much more sinister feeling to it, almost abandoned.   Last is NEST which stands for Nigel Enteron Star Testing facility. Established just last year, this is a top secret Federal building. Some citizens from both cities work in low level positions and are sworn to secrecy. The 2 story concrete building appears from the outside to be the size of the entire Cosmic Crisp City Center. Just outside the building is a large parking lot far too big for the number of employees the facitity uses. A structure in the center and four large screens stretched out in all four directions. Citizens everywhere are curious as to what its for as no one is really trusting of NEST.
