Amphitheater Colosseum

The Colosseum is an oval amphitheatre in the center of the city of Novo Centris. It is the largest amphitheater in the world. Construction began under the Imperatrix XXX in XXX AE, just after the Lupus Rem Publica rapidly transitioned to become the Imperium Aurorum.
The name Colosseum is derived from a colossal bronze statue of [Imperatrix who constructed it], which stands gloriously in front of the building, an immortal symbol of the empire's strength and prosperity.
In XXX IE, an epigram attributed to XXX celebrated the symbolic significance of the statue in a prophecy that is variously quoted: Quamdiu stat Colisæus, stat et Novo Centris; quando cadet colisæus, cadet et Novo Centris; quando cadet Novo Centris, cadet et mundus ("as long as the Colossus stands, so shall Novo Centris; when the Colossus falls, Novo Centris shall fall; when Novo Centris falls, so falls the world").
In addition to its public fame, there have been many infamously unsolved murders committed in the bustling corridors and walkways of the Colosseum.

Purpose / Function

Entertainment is in high demand, and the Colosseum has attractions in spades. Since its construction, it has been the definitive hub for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles, including monster hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on canid mythology.

Architecture

The amphitheater, built of limestone and concrete brick, was designed to accommodate over 65,000 people without crowding. There are many passages throughout the building to provide efficient access everywhere.
