406. The Stonecutter Shop

113 Boundary Street

Elijah Potts has carved headstones for Arkham’s dead for 60 years. He lives and works in a decaying 17th century house, across from the Old Wooded Graveyard {402}. When he was younger, he carved capitals for the columns of some of the university’s ornate buildings.   The house is somewhat cramped and cluttered and a lot less tidy these days due to Pott’s disinterest coupled with his age. Despite being at an age when most are slowing down, Potts continues to be busy, supplying headstones to order. He takes pride in his work, refusing to rush or cut corners, and so isn’t necessarily the cheapest in town, but his work is the best quality and speaks for itself.   Potts spends nearly all his time in his workshop, at the side of the property, and this is where he meets with customers. All manner of stone is piled up inside and out, from brownstone to marble (standard and expensive Italian imported) to granite, as well as all manner of sketches and paintings of cherubs, angels, and other references for his work.   Generally friendly and welcoming, Potts has lots of tales to tell and knows much about the old families of Arkham (and their dead in particular). After all, he’s lived across from the old graveyard for many years…

Rumor:

You want to know about the old days? Then, Elijah Potts is your man. He’s seen more than most and forgotten more than most remember.
