Pulse Blades

Pulse Blades are one of the most common and widespread melee weapons still in use throughout the galaxy. Coming in a wide variety of forms and sizes, Pulse Blades are valued by many who are expected to find themselves in combat scenarios, thanks to their ability to bypass most shielding and ability to be used in close quarters environments unsuitable for firearms. While firearms remain the weapon of choice for the majority of the galaxy, Pulse Blades continue to see use among a number of groups, with Wayfinders being particularly noteworthy wielders.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Pulse Blades channel Impulse energy through the Ascarite that forms the cutting edge(s) of their blade, granting them additional cutting power. This power comes from the miniature pulse generator incorporated into the blade.

Manufacturing process

First, the "frame" and hilt of the Pulse Blade is constructed, then the Ascarite blade is attached on the cutting edge. Once the blade has been constructed, the pulse generator is installed, typically around the base of the blade.

Significance

Pulse Blades are a common weapon among many militaries, though some races (like the Halai, the Ryugan, the Neragi, and the Azeth) consider such weapons to be significant to their cultures, even having unique types that reflect this (katana-like blades for the Ryugan, weapons resembling hunting tools for the Neragi, etc.).
