Magical and Technical Marvels
Since ancient times, Solarians have been known for their ability to awaken and channel energy through rare crystals. Scientific investigation of discovered crystals reveals a unique lattice structure but nothing that would indicate such rare properies. Ancient mages once referred to this crystal as 'Mystrite' as it could store and channel intense amounts of magical energy. The druids called it Hyran. The solarian mystics called them "korellian" crystals.
These crystals are considered hybrid items as they blend both technology and magic seemlesly. Damage dealt from Solarian crystals is considered magical. While Solarians take advantage of the crystals in their own way, these crystals can also be potent magical focuses, reagents, or artifacts while technology that can utilize these crystals has its performance greatly increases. Solarian Crystals augment the damage of Solarian weapons or power Solarian Armor. Cystals exist in 3 states: Dormant, Awakened, Empowered.
Dormant: Crystals in the dormant state have no power and appear as ordinary clear quartz crystals. A solarian can detect the presence of these crystals with detect magic or by spending 5 minutes meditating listening for their song. A Dormant Solarian Crystal functions as a Power Crystal (20).
Awakened: If a Solarian spends a short rest meditating with a crystal, he or she can "awaken" the crystal. An awakened crystal can power a weapon or piece of armor though does not grant the power within it. An awakened crystal has an innate color which is revealed when awoken. An Awakened Solarian Crystal functions as a Power Crystal (60).
Empowered By spending a short rest attuning to an awakened crystal, a Solarian can imbue their Celestial Manifestation into the crystal to unlock the powers it grants. When empowered, the crystal takes on the color of the Solarian's Celestial Manifestation. A crystal in the empowered state reverts to Awakened if it's Solarian dies, it is ever more than 10 miles from the Solarian, the Solarian spends another short rest removing their mote from the crystal. An Awakened Solarian Crystal functions as a Power Crystal (80). Should an Empowered crystal be placed in a Power Crystal weapon, you may apply the effects of the crystal as described on the Solarian Weapons page.

Broken Solarian Crystals
Very rarely, great force or unusual abilities or conditions can shatter or sunder a Solarian Crystal. If this occurs, the crystal cannot grant it's bonuses to a wielder and imposes a -3 penalty to attack and damage rolls. The affect can temporarily be patched for 1 hour with the use of the "Mending" spell, 4 hours by the "Make Whole" spell, and for 1 day with a successful Arcana, Religion, or Engineering check.
If the cause was physical damage, the crystal can be fully repaired after 4 days of spending 10 minutes and making a successful Arcana, Religion, or Engineering checks (1 per day) though they do not need to be sequential. Rolling a natural 1 on this check resets your count.
If the damage was caused by your attunement being shattered, either by willingly betraying your convictions or similar spiritual damage, you must spend 1 hour meditating and re-aligning your crystal to yourself for 5 days (they do not need to be sequential).

Solarian Use
Solarian's can utilize these crystals in 2 ways: Weapon Empowerment or Armor Empowerment. Solarian Weapon Hilts are ancient technological marvels. These harness the powers of the crystal to form a weapon of incredible power. Likewise, Solarian Armor powered by a crystal have appeared in legends and myths of near unstoppable villains and heroes alike.

Magical Uses for Solarian Crystals
A Solarian Crystal can function as an arcane focus. druidic focus, or holy symbol. It also is a primary reagent in many magical items such as Rings of Spell Storing, magic wands, and similar magic amplifcation or storing items. Additionally, it can function as any gem component equal to it's value or any material component with a cost of half its value or below.
Technological Uses for Solarian Crystals
Some have tried to harness the power of these crystals into their technology without the aid of magic. These crystals are capable of storing vast amounts of information as well as act as excellent conductors and batteries. Typically, those used in technology are a bit larger than those used by Solarians for weapons and armor, but these data and power crystals were once used by Solarian and non-Solarian alike across the stars.
