Quartz Clock of Catastrophic Conundrums
Tick...
You count the seconds in your head.
Tock...
13 Seconds. Anxiety spikes as you realize it was 26 when you checked yesterday. It was 10 minutes a week ago.
You don't feel ready to face the challenge ahead of you, knowing what will happen when the seconds match. Perhaps it's truly the unknowing that's the worst part of it. Knowing that something terrible, something incredibly difficult lies in your path, with no possibility of knowing what it is.
At least you can appreciate the warning
The clock becomes attuned to an individual, and counts down the time until they will have to face a situation with no clear right answer. Often one of grave significance, and one that may feel as if there was never a right answer as an option. When the tick of the passing seconds matches that of a standard, well timed clock, the so called "Catastrophic Conundrum" would be imminent.
Some see it as a friendly warning, allowing you to steel yourself for the uncoming hardships.
Some however, who have seen the events of a matching second before, see it as a source of anxiety, a constant reminder that something will happen to them again. They don't want to know anymore, but the thought of not knowing is just as maddening.

Quartz Clock of Catastrophic Conundrums
This grandfather style clock, at first glance, is elegant. Mahogany frame, brass bell, a stunning quartz clock face. Elegant, but normal. Normal until one realizes that it's moving far too slowly. The clock becomes attuned to an individual, and counts down the time until they will have to face a situation with no clear right answer.
