Wusha Moles Species in Project Kaos (Placeholder) | World Anvil

Wusha Moles

Recently resurfaced, Wush Moles, or Vanishing Moles, appear to be simple plain white variants of the common subterranean mammal. However, an astute observer might catch tracks appearing without a culprit around their underground homes, and might stumble upon the discovery that these creatures can turn invisible seemingly at will.

Basic Information

Dietary Needs and Habits

As with other moles the Wusha variant subsists mostly on earthworms, though these ones also often eat other ground insects, berries from bushes on the surface. They love to eat fungus wherever they can find any, and have a particularly strong resistance to most poisonous ones.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Alchemists value the Wusha mole highly for its skin's usage in invisibility potions, some even foster them as pets and use only the shedded skin for their experiments, but some do contract out hunters. Their blood is also usable in some antidotes for its poison resistant properties, and its claw is used by some miners as good luck in the caves where they make their living.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Common across all of Arhinda, the Wusha mole can be seen (or not seen at all) from the Eryllian Plains, to the Valley of Flowers and the Maple Forest itself. They reappeared only recently after having collectively vanished from the surface around the time that the Empire of Runeheim fell. They have even been spotted in deep subterranean expeditions, which leads scholars to believe that they might have a much stronger form of burrowing than a normal mole does. The running theory is that this deep underground habitat is where the Wusha disappeared to in the period where they were forgotten.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

While being able to become invisible, they are also able to sense each other when no one else can. Whether this is them being able to pierce through the invisibility or their strong tremor-senses is unknown. Their sense of ground vibrations is so great that they can feel a worm falling into their trap from a mile away, as long as they are within the same tunnel system.
