The Burning Sea is the largest body of water in the Maw Region. Due to its unique nature, it has played a key role in the development of the region for centuries. To avoid the dangers of the seas namesake, "Dragon Fire". Dragon Fire is a black ichor that seeps up from the sea floor and bursts into flame when exposed to air. Dragon Fire seeps occur in deep seas. Sailors operated close to shorelines for safety. Once these seep sites became mapped out by a brave few, open sea travel and trade began to flourish in the region.
Many prosperous fishing communities and port cities now dot the coastlines. The sea provides a bountiful variety of wildlife. Skilled Fishermen often return boats running low to the waterline with their catch. The greatest body of water in the Maw Region is the Burning Sea. Stretching across the eastern, western, and northern banks of the region. It is also the largest sea in the known world This sea is home to many prosperous fishing communities. Skilled fishermen often return to the market with bountiful catches. Several major port cities are located along the banks of the Burning Sea. From these ports, trade goods from through the region make their way deeper inland.

• The Burning sea is roughly close to 900 thousand square miles in size. The Sea is nearly entirely encompassed by land. Stretching roughly three thousand miles from its eastern to western banks. Reaching a distance of close to a thousand miles across the north to south at its widest points. The land gives way to a northwestern waterway to access to the northern ocean.
• Locations in the burning sea where Dragon Fire makes its way to the surface and can burn for hours or days.
• In recent years there has been speculation that Dragon Fire can be harvested. If it can be captured before reaching the surface and combusting. It could become a tremendous resource to the region.
