Spizzards

As in spitter-lizard.
They are giant omnivorous yet vicious lizards, with a body the length of a rottweiler, a tail of the same length, but shorter legs of course.
Their skin changes color according to the environment, so they usually move rather slowly to take advantage of this. In spite of their size, they are capable of climbing near vertical walls, provided there is some texture to it.
Their usual slowness may be deceptive, because they are quite agile, and capable of make very fast surprise attacks.
They can throw a strong poisonous spit once per turn, with surprising accuracy, and as far as 8 meters away (Paralyzing Poison, intensity 7). The poison makes full effect if it reaches the face, or an open wound. If the poison falls on naked skin, it is only partially effective, and all the effects are halved.
Every time the animal causes bite damage, it can inject poison, provided it hasn't done it previously during that round.
The poison is a neurotoxin that makes you unable to move your muscles. The animal will proceed to bite the throat of any Stunned victim, and Execute any incapacitated victim.

They rely on their tongue to sense odors and vibrations in the environment, so when they hunt they will look for places with strong animal smell, they will camouflage, and wait quietly until prey is spotted.
They are mostly found in two variants, one is more common in swamps and humid environments, while the other is commonly found in the desert.
The swamp variety is a remarkable swimmer, and can contain its breath for several minutes. They will usually hide underwater near the shore, and wait for thirsty animals to approach.
The desert variety is far more dangerous than the other, since its diet is mostly carnivore, due to lack of vegetation, and the rich water content of animals. They will hide beneath the sand or among rocks, and when they find a waterhole or oasis, they will hide underwater and wait for thirsty prey.
Hiding underwater is not an option when gators are present, since its attack tactic doesn't allow them to defend themselves against the gators.

They are very prized by Genomancers because of all the mutations they display. They contain the genes for Chamaleonic Skin - 1, and Paralyzing Poison Gland - 1.
