Genetic Transfection

This edge allows a Genomancer to insert mutation or aberration genes into a target living being, following the rules of the Mutation System.
It is said that the Genomancers fill "empty" viruses with the genes they want to deliver, and the virus propagates the gene.
To do so, he needs to puncture the target with his Genomic Spur.
Spend 1 EP and Roll Smarts & Attunement
  • Critical Failure: The transfection does not take place, and the GM chooses one:
    • You enter Attunement trance involuntarily, you can only exit if interrupted.
    • Your Genomic Spur - 3 gets damaged, but it will heal in a week, if you try to use it before, you'll break it for sure.
    • If you intended to transfect a mutation, one of your abberrations gets transfected too. The GM chooses.
    • If you intended to transfect an aberration, one of your mutations gets transfected too. The GM chooses.
    • Even though you fail, you still spend 2 EP.
    • Even though you fail, you still get 2 levels of Fatigue.
  • Failure: The transfection does not take place.
  • Partial Success: The transfection takes place (as below), but the GM gets to choose an option from the Critical Failure list (see above).
  • Success: Transfection takes place - You can choose a mutation or aberration among the ones in your genome, and insert it into the target. The modification propagates and expresses itself as intended, in a process taking 10 painful turns. The target suffers 2 levels of Fatigue. Weak subjects may fall Incapacitated.
  • Raise: Transfection takes place - Each raise takes 1 turn less to express, or provokes 1 less level of Fatigue.
Limitations:
  • If the target already is expressing its maximum mutation capability, it can reject the transfection, or suffer genomic meltdown effects.
  • You can only transfect 1 mutation or aberration each time.
  • See Genomic Spur.
