The Hatching of Dragonkin

Eggs of the Dragonkin
Dragonkin take nearly two years to hatch from their eggs - but this does not mean they are entirely unaware.  Priests in the Hatcheries hum, croon, sing, and clean the eggs during that time.  In this way, the Dragonkin learn the language before they ever breach their shells.   Dragonkin grow quite rapidly after birth, able to walk and toddle about within four hours.  Their extensive vocabulary often convinces other species that they are more advanced and civilized than they are - but they are young Dragonkin.  Ruled by their stomachs and impulsive to a fault.   During their egg days, however, they are harmless.  Priests commune with the eggs, attempting to decipher what caste the egg will bear and where in the hatchery it should be stored for optimum results.  This is not a flawless process - some children are more difficult to decipher before birth - but even on the rare occasion of a mis-casteing before Hatching the youth are socialized enough that they will be unlikely to intentionally harm another hatchling.

Execution

During the two years, Priests will repeatedly perform rituals meant to strengthen the spirit of the Hatchlings.  This ritual involves song, drums, and a ritualistically prepared wash in warm blessed waters.   Hatchlings that were not given this ritual throughout their egg days do tend hatch somehow... odd.  Usually in mental fortitude.
