Path of the Zealot Profession in Prijeba | World Anvil

Path of the Zealot

Some Barbarians become. Blessed. Touched by a God and throwing themselves into righteous fury in dedication to the God that blessed them. Zealots are a blessing and a terror. No one would say that one touched by the Divine like this is one to be disrespected or to assume how they will react to a situation. Too much relies on the Zealot's belief in the will of their God.
FEATURES
Barbarian Level Features
3rd Divine Fury, Warrior of the Gods
6th Fanatical Focus
10th Zealous Presence
14th Rage Beyond Death

Divine Fury
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can channel divine fury into your weapon strikes. While you’re raging, the first creature you hit on each of your turns with a weapon attack takes extra damage equal to 1d6 + half your barbarian level. The extra damage is necrotic or radiant; you choose the type of damage when you gain this feature. This choice cannot be changed later.
Warrior of the Gods
At 3rd level, your soul is marked for endless battle. If a spell, such as raise dead, has the sole effect of restoring you to life (but not undeath), the caster does not need material components to cast the spell on you.

Fanatical Focus
Starting at 6th level, the divine power that fuels your Rage can protect you. If you fail a save while raging, you can reroll it but MUST use the new roll. You can use this ability once per Rage.
Zealous Presence
At 10th level, you learn to channel divine power to inspire zealotry in others. As a bonus action, you can unleash a battle cry infused with divine energy. Up to 10 other creatures of your choice within 60ft of you that can hear gain advantage on attack rolls and save throws until the start of your next turn. You may use this once per long rest.

Rage Beyond Death
Beginning at 14th level, the divine power that fuels your rage allows you to shrug off fatal blows.   While you’re raging, having 0 hit points doesn’t knock you unconscious. You still must make death saving throws, and you suffer the normal effects of taking damage while at 0 hit points. However, if you would die due to failing death saving throws, you don’t die until your rage ends, and you die then only if you still have 0 hit points.

Social Status

The Fanatics are regarded with welcome arms... if they worship Elenwen or Nevea.  But should they be following another god, like Arriset or Veniset, most regard them with caution if not outright suspicion.

History

The First Fanatic was a Varaxian named Ranva.  Once a poor child, orphaned and alone, she was taken in by the Church of Nevea and raised with care.  There were occasional skirmishes in those days between the Knights of Elenwen and those who sought to set Nevea first... and Ranva embraced the path of the Barbarian to keep the Knights from destroying the Cloister that had raised her.   It was due to Nevea's Blessing that Ranva's fury was turned towards forcing peace talks between the Knights and the Church... and it was due to Ranva that the Treaty of Bone was created in the year 364.
