Isabel Lancaster
Empress Isabel Weyfren Indelli- Lancaster I
INTRODUCTION
Isabel Lancaster was the daughter of a valkyrin princess and wife of Ithrium's second Emperor, Siron II. She became the Empress following his death in 2178, and ruled over the Empire for little more than forty years. Her reign was rife with triumph and tumult, as it came during the worst of the years during The Siednik Wars. However, her fame and fortune came from her delicate wisdom and divine sense of justice, which made her one of the greatest influences during a time of relative amorality in Abeon. Some historians believe she was a devout follower of Loscin, while others draw from sources which show her a believer in the middleton pantheon; regardless, the beliefs she had made a profound influence on the growing Empire of wheat and barley, transforming it into a stronghold of power and education in Abeon. Isabel died near Ingerford in 2219, during a raid again the Eastern Tsondalian Kingdom.
UPBRINGING
Isabel Lancaster was the daughter of the Valkyrin Princess Higra, a cousin to the Ruler of Egleton. With royal blood and an innate beauty, Isabel was groomed for a diplomatic marriage. She trained to be a fighter, like her ancestors, but this training was limited compared to her informed court etiquette. She became vastly learned in philosophers and historians, and began to educate those around her. She prospered among the inhabitants of Harsoff, with many travelers from The Phaegees Tribe, who were largely ignorant of anything except war.
PRINCESS OF ITHRIUM
In 2159 3p, Isabel sent off to Pruefrost to marry a young Ithriunese Prince, by name of Siron Indelli. Only twenty-one years old, Isabel considered this a travesty to her freedom, but nonetheless, submitted to her mother's will. Isabel was well taken care of in Pruefrost, but lived an altogether loveless life. She began educating the servants of her household, even though shunned by her husband Siron. In 2164, a war broke out against Meluhur, and Siron was sent with his father to fight off the dwarves. Left alone in the large city, Isabel began work to building universities and libraries for the common-folk to learn. She quickly became a popular ruler, some even outspoken- favoring her over her father-in-law or husband. While she completed these great works of literacy, Isabel also managed to complete her swordsmenship, which allowed her to be able to carry a bastard-sword by her side at all times, as was the custom of great swordsmen. in 2169, Isabel built a massive house for philosophy in Pruefrost, which allowed an open market for debating and writing from scholars all across Abeon. Many of the historians who wrote of The Siednik Wars copied their scripts from this place in Ithrium. Isabel continued to promote education and literacy throughout her short life, even as she fought in the Siednik Wars during her reign. Abeon became a more cultured society during her lifetime.
EMPRESS OF ITHRIUM
Isabel's life took a drastically different turn than expected in 2178, when her husband Siron died during a skirmish near the border of Archia. Although the young prince Siron was seventeen, and well equipped to rule, the people of Ithrium looked to Isabel to take control and stabilize the young nation. Isabel reigned over Ithrium as the first Empress for forty-one years, trying her best to end the Siednik Wars and grow the fluency and trading of her beloved Empire. It is important to note the political implications of Isabel becoming the ruler. Ithrium was a human nation of men, who commonly looked down upon the valkyrie as barbaric and uneducated savages. Through her marriage and ascension to the throne, Isabel had shown to the other human nations that the valkyrie, at least of Egleton, were not like their ancestors. Thus, during her reign, there became an understanding between the nations of middleton and the nations of the dark east.
FAMILY
Isabel Lancaster had four children by her husband, Siron II; three boys and a girl. The eldest, Siron, eventually succeeded his mother and became Emperor Siron III. The second oldest, Ivon, became a commander in Siron's army, and outlived his brother by forty years. He became a thorn in the side of Emperor Amir I, his nephew. The last son was Olliandor, who later became a pirate and sailed southward to raid the chambraidic isles. He was never seen again after he left Ithrium.
