The Ithrium Empire
INTRODUCTION
The Ithrium Empire was a human nation that dominated the spotlight during the Third Period in Abeon. The various wars and poltiical disputes during the 1600 years it existed were largely a result of the unconquerable ambitions of the people and rulers who inhabited it. Ithrium was a warlike people- the closest humanity ever came to the Vei. Ithrium began falling in the early 37th century, and finally fell in 3709 after the death of Lyrein Swiftblade during The Battle of the Broken City in 3701 3p. The fall of the Ithrium Empire plunged middleton into chaos- hundreds of miles of territory suddenly unruled and up for grabs began a fued between The Archian Empire and the Tsondalian Free Empire that would finally end during The Third Magic War of Abeon.
HISTORY
The Ithrium Empire was born of an idea- not a people. Following the disasterous start to the third period, the little and fledging nation of Porsonal saw how quickly Archia and Tsonlar were defeating their smaller neighbors, acknowledging that the time would come when Archia would even turn on their allies. The ruling council, a small group of farmers, deceided if Porsonal was to survive, it would have to bolster its army by becoming what it had vowed to destory- a military empire. So in 2104, the council deceided military commander Siron Lancaster would become the first emperor of Ithrium- a name chosen because of the iron will of the people of Porsonal. The timing could not have been better- as the lords of Western Tsonlar had declared war on Ingerford and invaded the little Ithrium town on the border. Although initially condemned by Lambert VII of Archia, Siron I actually managed to totally defeat the arvenonian forces- attracting Archia back to become its ally, while also establishing the empire's might and legitmacy in Abeon. The Siednik wars continued between Eastern Tsonlar and Ithrium over the next 200+ years, and only served to strengthen the military might of the young empire. Ithrium began decling toward the 30th century, when it reached a string of corrupt monarchs and a house change. When Tsonlar reunited in 2762, Ithrium became suddenly sandwhiched between two powerhouses and its fate would eventually be sealed during The Great Ithrinese War- a war which so weakened the empire, that Melehur tried to invade in 3701. The final ruler of Ithrium, Captain Lyrein Swiftblade, was a female drow, a sign of the times for the humanoid nation. Archia invaded and took the capital at Barrowhorn in 3709, officially destroying the dying nation of Porsonal.
