Tristaril, The Artist

Tristaril is a the god of art, beauty, color, the Fey, music, freedom and sexuality.  They are portayed as male, female or androgynous, depending on the work or culture depicting them.  Tristaril is not an approved Larostrian deity, though worship of them does persist in secret within Larost and throughout the rest of the world. Worshipers of Tristaril in or around Larost cite the forbearance on their worship as a sign of closed mindedness, especially where gender roles and sexuality are concerned.   Tristaril is a master of all arts: performative, traditional and unorthodox.  They can dance, act, sing, paint, draw, write, orate, etc.  They are also the most prolific romantic partner in all of legend, with myths stating that they have romanced queens, kings, dryads, nymphs, succubi, incubi, angels, agathions, and a dozen other unlikely partners.

Themes

The tales of Tristaril have many themes and commonalities.  They often take one or more lovers, wear elaborate, colorful outfits, and come into conflict with either a force of censorship (typically a government entity) or to free a poor soul who has been tricked by the Fey (or vise versa).  Whether through a direct competition in a form of art, or outwitting or seducing the opposition, they succeed without resorting to violence unless they are attacked, which does occasionally occur when their foes have been outwitted but will not concede defeat.   When forced into a fight, they move as though dancing, wielding a rapier as deftly as a paintbrush and throwing small, whistling blades with their off hand.  They will also often fight alongside their lovers from earlier scenes of the story and in such cases Tristaril will often play a supporting role in the combat, using song to bolster their ally and sword to foil their enemy.   At the end of all of their stories, Tristaril continues on their journey, leaving behind an applauding crowd and a misty eyed lover.
