Quarryton

Quarryton is an old Dwarven mining settlement, located under the jungle in Western Aegrora.  The small village was founded by an expedition from the Kingdom of the Anvil Mountains in the years prior to their discovery of the end spell.  The mining facility and the village supporting it were operational up until the great plague forced the residents to retreat back to the more well established cities in the Anvil Mountains.  The Kingdom of the Anvil has started to reclaim settlements such as this, sending scouting and combat squads to clear outlying towns and villages and secure paths to them, with colonists to follow.
This quarry, in particular, is important for the mining of various non metallic rocks and minerals of import, including salt, saltpeter, sulfur and Chalk.  Several scholars have implied that in an ancient time, the stones of this are may have been below the surface of the ocean, and that the salt and chalk are a result of this.

Current Status

Right now, Quarryton proper has been cleared of squatters, and the scouts are actively clearing the pathways back towards Anvil.  The majority of the residents are soldiers and their camp followers, but a few families have returned, and a company of traders has sent one of their caravans to profit on resupplying the troops. The outlying areas, mostly housing 60 years ago, are still dangerous.  Some are on the verge of collapse, and others have become dens for dangerous wildlife.  The mines beyond and below the town are even more of an issue.  They have become a hive for something far more dangerous than simple flora and fauna.  Part of the reason that the scouts are returning to the Anvil is to request backup to clear the remainder of the town and the valuable mining facilities therein.
